TF2 neilA - other side

Found this sweet scout video on WeGame earlier today. After playing around with smoothing in TF2 demos for a little bit, this guy obviously spent hours just filming the slow motion shots. Great video, take the video author’s advice.

Just Boost ur speakers for Base, sit, relax and enjoy!

Hope everyone enjoys their long weekend.

Medics Double Team Heavy

Last week DJedi faced off against Worth It on cp_well and during the first round there was an epic double medic takedown of a heavy. With the help of the distraction from grog as demo and his one pipe, theSpawn helps Wilson escape from the enemy base and a target of opportunity presents itself. This was my first attempt at making a video with Sony Vegas and if I had spent more than 2 hours on it I could have done better. Hopefully the next one will be longer too, enjoy the video.

Engineer Party on Canalzone

The guys over at the 2fort2furious servers have found a new way to enjoy canalzone. Looks like Banyon over on The Fight Club forums is wrong about canalzone ruining engineer.

Heavy Update Announcement

header.jpg

Thanks to sizzle from clan pound for pointing me to this forum post that confirms that the heavy update is just around the corner. To double check I jumped over to the Official Team Fortress 2 Blog and saw that Robin Walker had posted with an updating confirming the new updates. Valve has already created a heavy update page and have revealed the name of the community map that will be included.

CP_Steel, A complex Attack/Defense control point map, with some unique gameplay. Unlike most TF2 maps, capturing a control point modifies the layout of the map, opening and closing routes for each team. As a result, the offensive team has a wide variety of tactical choices around how they’d like to assault the final point.

We have played a match vs KBD and many scrims on cp_steel and after learning some of the intricacies of the map it turned out to be pretty fun.

It looks like the heavy update site has been setup to elude to a new update announced everyday for the next week to ramp up excitement for the release on August 19th. Hope this doesn’t effect our Tuesday match night as much as it did when the pyro updates were released.

Valve Removes Health Bonus From Backburner

Oh, glorious day. Valve must have finally listened to what the community was saying and have removed the +50 health bonus from the backburner. No more indestructible pyros running through entire teams.

Valve also has tried to allow crits even on servers where critical hits aren’t on. Sniper headshots, The Backburner, The Axestinguisher and now they have “fixed” the Kritzkrieg. Now that this is a viable alternative in match play, I wonder if anyone is actually going to use it.
Entire update included below.

Updates to Team Fortress 2 have been released. The updates will be applied automatically when your Steam client is restarted. The specific changes include:

Team Fortress 2

  • Fixed team switches on Attack/Defense maps spamming the console
  • Fixed the Kritzkrieg not working on servers with crits turned off
  • Fixed some clipped localized strings in various in-game dialogs
  • Fixed several cases where files were synchronously loaded while the game was running
  • Fixed a shutdown crash in the material system
  • Cached rendering of item model panels to improve performance, in particular while weapon selection was visible
  • Added a gear symbol behind the health bar for Engineer buildings, in both target IDs and freeze panels
  • Players killing themselves will now give a kill credit to the last enemy who damaged them
  • Fixed grenades, rockets, and flamethrower being able to fire through grates at round starts
  • Fixed players being killed and creating ragdolls during team switches
  • Fixed various exploits and performance problems in CP_Badlands, CP_Well, and CP_Fastlane
  • Removed health bonus from the Backburner

Advanced Spy Techniques Howto

This video has been all over the net for about a week. If you haven’t yet viewed this tutorial however, it provides some great tips and techniques for being a more effective spy. While some of these are purely skills, some of the situational attacks may not translate as well to matches. Hopefully this will elevate my personal spy ability from horrible to terrible. Enjoy the video and thanks for creating it OMFGNinja.
