CAL: Balloons over DJedi on CTF_2Fort

Clan Balloons bested DJedi on 2Fort last night. During the past weekend, it seemed like every time I saw Surge or Pancakes on my friends list, they were in a 2forts scrim and their hard work definitely paid off. While they were practicing as a team to defeat us, DJedi tried to rack up as many points as possible with an all engineer practice.

Round 1 we threw together a lineup of folks who were around and got started. Balloons snuck into our base and quickly moved the flag to the top of our backstairs. Tendril was on RR defense and held the flag in place as long as possible, but Detta spied the flag out and Balloons went up 1-0 fairly early. We finally started to get warmed up and settled into our groove and pushed heavily into the enemy base with all six members of our offense. We moved the flag into position in their RR, but as we were pushing Balloons had snuck into our base and our two man defense didn’t stand a chance. While DJedi managed to pull out a capture and tie it up, it didn’t last long as Balloons had our flag out and it was just a matter of time before they captured. Round 1: DJedi 1 – Balloons 2

Since we were the home team and everyone was pinging low, we stayed on our server for Round 2. Round 2 was almost an exact replay of the first. With a few lineup changes, we started a sniper out of the gate and had a few folks hang back to take out their triple scout push. After thwarting off the first wave of attacks DJedi started pushing extremely hard to make up the capture required to tie the score. Once again this left our defense vulnerable and Balloons proceeded to capture twice in the 2nd round again. DJedi struggled and only managed to pull out a single capture this round also. Round 2: DJedi 1 – Balloons 2

Final Score: Balloons O~ 4 – DJedi 2

The Axorcist

Wilson had suggested making a demo and a video of our fun Axing Questions, but it seems as if Exodus Gaming has beaten us to the punch.

HowTo: Build a Sentry on Roof B of Gravel Pit

Most people that have played this game for a while have figured out that you can use the engineer’s buildings to get to unexpected places. This guy shows a proof of concept on how to build a gun on top of B’s house on Gravel Pit. For this to really be effective you will need to be quick and agile to get a gun up to level 1 before the doors open. Good work on the video.

Team Fortress 2 Train Bug – “Stop That Train”

Found this on YouTube this morning. Shows a group of people on a pub teaming up to heal a spy and stop a train dead in it’s tracks.

DJedi over mLw on Labor

After spending sometime trying to get a hold of anyone from clan Machines Least Wanted, we thought that we were finally going to get a forfeit win. After my previous post and hearing many tales of woe with clans getting forfeit wins wasting a lot of scrimmages and practices, we thought we were finally have it happen to us. Nine forty five rolls around, and the DJedi guys are on the server getting down, warming up, finalizing positions and strategies. Looks like a forfeit win, a Thursday night ruined? Well, we did some looking around and mLw has a total of nineteen people on the roster so we had hope. Just as the forfeit was about to go down, the first of several mLw guys joins the server, first in comes mLw-NotActuallyThere, and quickly followed by mLw-noShow and mLw-ForfeitHat. So with everyone on the server the match was ready to get going.

All of the practice and preparation paid off, with some excellent speed, the DJedi soldiers took to the center claiming the roofs. with mLw-afk and mLw-InvisibleMan getting taken out quickly, the middle was taken over easily. DJedi then had the uber advantage as mLw-FreeWin went down, leaving only mLw-Houdini as their only medic. Beautifully layered Uber’s got the DJedi boys deep into their base as a couple spawns later the first point was taken. Hard faught first capture and our heroes are up 1 – 0. Sensing roster problems mLw then substituted mLw-IplayCS with mLw-Disappearingdot. We were taken back thinking that DD (disappearingdot) was going to snipe up the middle and make it hard for us, but the boys countered this move with a four spy rush. As moop/infinite/lunk/Yoarashi took to the middle as spies we knew we had one chance. Out of know where Yoarashi turned into a giant ass dinosaur and ate mLw-DisappearingDot, infact he left the server because of this, it was amazing. The ass smashing green dinosaur then went on a tear actually ripping through the barn sending it flying off the map. Apparently no one knew that the barn is kind of like the glass on Impact, do enough damage and it will break. Yoshi still tearing it up through their CP2, and eventually laid an egg on the final cap point, and head back to the blue barn to have a beer with the rest of the DJedi guys as the egg was still capping their last cp point. The giant egg on their CP scared most of the mLw guys off the server, but a couple stood around to see what would happen, and just as it was slowly capping the point it opened up, and there was Keelah, Chaosfiend and Valpurgius sitting at a table drinking coffee and tea discussing global warming. With the cap rate at x3, the final cp was taken and the DJedi guys were up 2- 0. I’d like to extend my thanks to mLw for not calling us on rules for having eleven people, as we didn’t know that Yoshi was carrying them. Leaving round 1, DJedi 2 mLw 0

At this point I woke up, with Lunk yelling in Vent saying “Hey mLw was a no show but [TF2F] wants to scrim”

So a big thanks to [TF2F] for not wasting my Thursday, and the practice we put into the map, it is sad to see more and more teams forfeiting, but it is almost worse that these people are not communicating with admins and informing them that the clan is defunct, which may have allowed for us to reschedule with a clan that actually wanted to play.

CAL-TF2 disappointment, or lack of patience.

I must say that I for one was excited about CAL-TF2, hearing much about them running several successful leagues in different games, I was only hoping the same could be said about Team Fortress 2.  Sadly I am currently just disappointed in my initial impressions.  I did a couple quick looks at the numbers in the first two weeks of matches and stumbled across these numbers right away.  In the first week, there was 25 matches, 9 of which appear to be forfeits based on the reporting of the score.  I was excited for such a short time, 25 matches scheduled thats 50 clans, perhaps there is hope for a decent league.   In the second week there was 22 scheduled matches, 10 of which were forfeits.   I really hope that its because of Easter, but it seems to be a trend.

There are a lot of familiar names in the league, that appears in both TFL and STA, and I really was expected CAL which is rather popular with the counterstrike world to bring in some new clans.  Lets just hope this trend levels off and we can get several clans that hang around and make it enjoyable.  I just want to thanks *BS* and [5e] for at least showing up.  It is always a shame to practice, plan and then be disappointed by another clans disorganization.

DJedi 2 – 0, over Team the Ubercide

I hope I am not screwing this all up, as we were scheduled to play Team the Ubercide, but I believe that their Team Fortress 2 division might be called 5 Elements. Not sure so you have my apologies if I am wrong on that account. However, after agreeing to take Easter Sunday off, we rescheduled like a hand full of teams I believe, to play on Monday. So we threw down on Granary after some trouble lengthy discussion about [5e] not being able to field 8 players and wanting us to drop one. We eventually agreed, but the lack of HLTV forced our spectator to join up instead of leaving, luckily shortly into round one their eighth player showed up, and the mismatch was a non-factor.

Round One &Two

Was a pretty standard run of Granary, soldiers and scouts all pushing into the middle taking the high ground. So solid running around, and the Jedi’s worked through. Most cases the Jedi’s had enough leverage to take out one side of the [5e] defense allowing a scout to sneak up to the next point allowing for near back to back captures before gearing up for a push to their base. This was pretty much the formula for winning outside of the couple good pushes that they made back on us, with scouts going around and getting our medics. In the end round one ended 8 – 0 and round two ended 7 – 0 giving DJedi the 2 – 0 win, per Cal rules. GG [5e].

TFL: LoB over DJedi 8 – 2

I must first apologize for the late update on this one. LoB does deserve their credit for this win, and hopefully I can get some screen shots to show the scores on their much deserved victory over DJedi on Badlands.

lob-badlands-rd1.jpglob-badlands-rd2.jpg

Badlands being one of the new Valve maps just has so many options and ways to attack it, and lets just say LoB pulled it off very well. They had great grouping scouts, that won the battle of the middle almost every time with the aid of their sniper. Their demomen then piped the spire in both defense and offense making it very hard to keep. And as most people know once you lose the middle, and the spire goes you can only really prepare for the next try. Lob took charge winning round one 4 – 2, and simply repeated the same thing in round two. The only real highlight on DJedi’s end was a several minute span were we held the last CP, it was rather impressive despite we did lose it, I guess I was just shocked as for how long we held it.

Critical STA News

criticalhit1.png

The votes are in! Stronger Than All, an 8v8 TF2 league, has tallied the results and removed critical shots from match play.

Bucky33 an admin for STA posted this to their front page.

The vote to end crits was shockingly even. I’ll delve more into this in the forum. The configs have been updated and are available. Starting with matches 3/25 STA will no longer use weapon criticals.

Thank you to everyone who voted, and yay for no crits. CAL and STA are now no crits, should only be a matter of time before TFL follows suit.
